Amy Ray Doula is outside and standing in front of a succulent island. lots of greenery surrounding her.

Hi, I’m Amy!

(She/Her) A Bay Area native, I became a Doula because i’ve been on the receiving end of a scary and somewhat traumatic birth, postpartum depression and no support after getting an abortion.

More importantly, I want to make a difference. I want to better someone’s birth experience so it doesn’t end up being scary and traumatic for them. I want to fight for bodily autonomy and against injustices. Im here to support all types of families, from single parents to same sex couples, through their fertility, pregnancy, birth, abortions, postpartum, and everything in between. I can provide physical and emotional support for you and your partner(s) during these exciting and sometimes scary times.

Birthwork isn’t just about having babies, it’s about advocacy. It’s being an activist for what you believe in, it’s fighting against racism, fighting against people who feel like they can control the bodies of others. It’s creating a space where all genders, all sexualities, all abilities and all types of families are safe.

My girls! Ages are 8 and 5 months (July 2024)

Get to know me!

I am a mom (of two girls), wife, activist, teacher, herbalist and your next doula! I believe that everyone deserves to have the birth they want. Yes, we all know that changes happen during labor but we can still feel empowered in our choices that we make! As a doula I’m here to give you evidence based knowledge on all things Birth, Postpartum, Abortions and Reproductive Health.

As a postpartum doula who is also currently postpartum I have ample resources, extra support and an inside scoop of the fourth trimester.

I have extra knowledge regarding Pumping and human milk as I am exclusively pumping and a donator of breastmilk.

Other interest I have are crystals, baking, Harry Potter (I’m a Ravenclaw), traveling, raising monarch butterflies, reading a mystery or fantasy novel, making homemade salves and tinctures and getting crafty with my girls.

Here’s how it works!

01. Contact Me

Send me a message or an Email. Include in the message what part of your journey you are needing support in. Please include your EDD if you are in search of a Birth Doula. Then we can plan for a quick free consultation.

02. The Consult

Let’s meet over zoom for a simple chat to discuss your needs to see if we make a good fit!

03. Work with Me

When all goes well and we match as doula and client, then the fun begins. You will receive emails and reminders from me to schedule our meet ups and to make sure you have everything ready for baby to arrive or life after baby is here.

If you are seeking support in other areas we will schedule meet ups and discuss where to go from there and/or I will attend appointments and procedures along side you.

The benefits of hiring a

Birth and Postpartum Doula

01. You are less likely to have a Cesarean birth

Studies have shown that doulas can reduce the rate of cesareans by 28-50%. Why? Because you are receiving continuous support. We are providing a safe environment where your body can naturally labor and as doulas we can support your body in different positions to get baby in the proper presentation for birth.

02. You are less likely to need Pitocin

Doulas know all the tips and tricks to get your body and mind to relax. Tension and fear makes labor long and more painful, with a doula by your side you are more likely to relax and let labor happen naturally.

03. You will have an easier and more relaxing postpartum experience

Postpartum Doulas are there to support you through all the ups and downs those first few weeks at home with your new baby. With a postpartum doula by your side you can get more rest, feel more confident and better connect with your baby.
